6- Migration Platform Program |
| |
| |
| |
Migration is a worldwide phenomenon of which Cambodia is no exception. After long decade of isolation due to genocide and political conflict, this country are harshly integrated with regional bloc or bodies—like ASEAN and WTO—and it adopts the free market system that free movement of people should be well respected.
The complex economic and political system though results into both opportunities and challenges for migrants who may expose to either economic prosperity or difficulty, social integration or disintegration (a sense discrimination, racism, for example) and either experience human right respect or abuse. Concrete discussion and further research is therefore worth conducting for migration rights advocacy.
Hence, the migration platform program is aimed to raise awareness on Cambodian migration related issue and offer analyzes with policy recommendation on the challenges resulted from the diversity of migration in destination and origin society. This migration platform will bring about: |
| |
| |
A monthly Dialogue on Migration related issues: gender, social capital, and economic development. Then we will be able to evaluate on existing mechanism in addressing the migration rights and ultimately seek to enhance the development of social capital of both migrants and non-migrants. |
| |
| |
Quarterly Research Paper resulted from the series of dialogue will be then published together with other interested scholars who are working on migration issue within ASEAN countries or the world. |
| |
| |
Migration Rights Advocacy through the joint press release, press conference, intervention letter or other peaceful means will be conducted to advocate for the respect and protection of migrants rights and development. This advocacy campaign will serve for the policy reform and strengthen the migration institutions. |
